The Department was established during 1978 offering B.Sc., Programme in Microbiology (4 years Hons.); PG Programmes in M.Sc., Botany; M.Sc., Zoology & M.Sc., in Microbiology and Ph.D. Programmes in Botany, Zoology & Microbiology; carrying out Research in the field of Aquaculture, Mushroom Culture, Vermiculture, Ethnobotany, Solid Waste Recycling, Biodiversity, Bio-nanotechnology, Environmental Studies; Plant Taxonomy, Plant Reproductive Biology and Conservation Biology; Transforming Technologies for Rural Development through Extension.
